My life is but a weaving between my Lord and me: I cannot choose the colours, He worketh steadily. Oft times He weaveth sorrow and I, in foolish pride, forget He sees the upper and I the underside. Not til the loom is silent and the shuttles cease to fly, shall God unroll the canvas and explain the reasons why. The dark threads are as needed in the Weavers skillful hand, as the threads of gold and silver in the pattern He has planned.
Borstal Odd Balls is our craft group which meets on a Tuesday morning at 10am in the Parish Room. Whether you are a knitter, crocheter, sewer, felter, artist or any other crafter you are very welcome. You can bring your own project or work on something to sell at the Church Craft Stall.

During the recent pandemic one of our knitters made Angel’s of Hope which we sold to help raise money for the Wisdom Hospice.
With the current troubles in Ukraine, one of our members has been crocheting Sunflowers which we have been selling to raise money for the Red Cross Ukraine Relief Fund. We have currently raised £75 – thank you all very much.
We sell items made for the church at our Table Top and Seasonal Fairs (see our Coming Soon page for upcoming dates) and through our Facebook page. All of the money we raise from these sales either goes to St. Matthew’s Church or a nominated charity.
We have also been known to have the occasional cup of tea or coffee and maybe even a biscuit or two whilst we discuss life, the universe and anything else that crops up!

All are welcome – just turn up! Whether you’re a beginner or an expert or anything in between. We are happy to help out beginners who are learning to knit or crochet. A donation of £1 towards refreshments and heating costs is appreciated.
