Church Services

St Matthews is now open for Sunday worship at 10.30 am. subject to social distancing.  Face coverings should be worn.

We are unable to hold Sunday School at the moment but we will provide colouring or a similar activity for your little ones.

The restrictions also prevent us from singing at this time, but the wonderful Markham Chesterfield will be playing the organ for us and we will be holding a socially distanced communion.

We hope you can join us and we look forward to welcoming you.

When you can’t get to church in person for any reason…

Many churches are holding services ‘behind closed doors’ and streaming these online on facebook or other platforms, and church services are also broadcast on TV and radio.

Here are some suggestions:

A service of worship is broadcast every Sunday on Radio 4 at 8.10am and is available as a podcast or on the radio 4 website.

Evensong (archived evensongs from former years) is broadcast on Radio 3 at 3.30pm on Wednesdays, and repeated at 3pm on Sundays.

Songs of Praise is broadcast at 1.15pm on BBC1

Local churches

Rochester Cathedral is live streaming services regularly – these are listed on the ‘Worship  online’ page of the Cathedral website.  The service is afterwards available on facebook and youtube
